Alberta Bike Swap

What is Alberta Bike Swap?  We’re a non-profit that provides a safe place to buy, sell, and donate bicycles. If you have a bike to sell or want to buy a bike we’ll tech check that bike and run the serial number through the only bike swap software in the world (we designed that software, cool eh?).

In 2022 we had over 660 bike donations because we work with over 30 groups that recondition bikes for re-use.  Please consider contacting us if you are putting on a community clean-up or have an unused bike hanging in your garage and we’ll make sure that bike is re-cycled (pun intended).

We also support cycling proficiency training in Alberta through Alberta Bike Swap CAN-BIKE courses. CAN-BIKE is the only recognized cycling education program in Canada.  Chris, the taller half of the bike swaps, is the only person in Alberta to have CAN-BIKE Master Instructor status and his courses are informative and educational.

We added children’s bikes to our swaps last year and we’ll be swapping children’s bikes from now on because it helps families.

| Calendar of Events | Volunteer Opportunities |

  • Our Christmas breakfast will be held on December 23, from 9:00am-12:00pm, we are looking for volunteers.
  • We are currently helping people fill out forms for the Christmas Bureau, the last day to submit a form is November 30 at 12:00pm. We are taking walk in clients if you know anyone who needs help filling out the form.
  • We are again partnering with Coats for kids this year to get warm coats for children and adults
  • We are seeing a rise in those facing homelessness so we are thankful for donations of warm clothes and outerwear that we can pass along to them. We received a generous donation of knitted scarves, hats and mitts from the members of Knitting from the Heart, which we have been passing out to our clients.
  • We are now open every Wednesday in the evening until 8:00pm, we are also offering our Tax clinic from 5:00pm-7:00pm by appointment. We offer up to 10 years of taxes.
  • We are no longer operating out of Londonderry Community League. We are going to talk with Civida to see if we can offer our Outreach services 1 day a week at their new Londonderry building.
  • Finally, we are always looking for volunteers. I am attaching our current volunteer opportunities.
